About Observation Today
Observation Today is a small desk that collects published observation bulletins each day and folds them into one readable digest. We do not take measurements ourselves and we do not own any station network.
What we publish
A daily digest covering river basins, air quality, the state of the observation station network, transport corridors and grid load. Material is published in English and Russian; the switch is in the top line of the page.
How bulletins are selected
The digest takes in what is published openly and carries verifiable numeric series. We prefer bulletins that state their averaging interval and use a clear unit. If a bulletin has neither, it does not enter the tables, though it may appear in the wire.
Units and rounding
Discharge is given in cubic metres per second, level in metres, temperature in degrees Celsius, pressure in hectopascals. The air quality index is a composite dimensionless value. Values are rounded once, at publication, and are not recomputed retroactively.
Corrections
If a publishing party revises a value, we update the table and add a correction line under the original text. You can report an error through the contact page.
The desk
Material is signed with the name of the duty desk rather than individual names: a digest is assembled collectively and may be extended during the day. General mail: desk@observation.today.
